🏦 BANK OF KOREA TESTED NFT TRADING, REMITTANCES WITH CBDC: REPORT

🇰🇷 The Bank of Korea (BoK) has developed and tested a program that facilitates cross-border remittances by linking different central bank digital currencies (CBDC) from other countries, local media outlet Yonhap News reported on Monday.

✔ The central bank had recently completed a 10-month experiment into a digital South Korean won, Governor Chang Yong Rhee revealed in a September speech. During the project, the bank also tested the use of its CBDC to purchase non-fungible tokens (NFT), according to the report.

💪 Litecoin mining difficulty is at a new high, peaking at just under 18 million hashes, according to a post by the Litecoin Foundation on cryptocurrency market data site, coinmarketcap.com.

✔ Mining difficulty measures the average number of hashes required to “solve” a block. Litecoin miners compete by generating random hashes to find one lower than the target set by the network’s mining algorithm. 😲 Crypto giant Binance has processed Iranian transactions with a value of $8 billion since 2018 despite U.S. sanctions intended to cut Iran off from the global financial system, blockchain data show.

🏡 MicroStrategy (MSTR) posted a minimal digital asset impairment charge of $727,000 on its bitcoin (BTC) holdings in the third quarter, down significantly from $917.8 million in the second quarter as the price of bitcoin remained relatively stable at the end of the second and third quarters, according to its latest earnings report.

✔ The company's digital asset impairment reflects the decline in the price of bitcoin versus the price at which the bitcoin was acquired. Under standard accounting rules the value of digital assets such as cryptocurrencies must be recorded at their cost and then only adjusted if their value is impaired, or goes down. But if the price rises, that does not get reported unless an asset is sold.

of financing. The crypto mining company Argo Blockchain continues to explore new financing opportunities after failing to raise major capital from a strategic investor, according to an announcement on Oct. 31.

✔ Argo has been seeking to raise about 24 million British pounds ($27 million) via subscription ordinary shares. "The company no longer believes that this subscription will be consummated under the previously announced terms," Argo said in a statement.

🔐 The Securities Commission of the Bahamas announced Thursday that it ordered the contents of FTX's crypto wallets to be transferred to government-controlled wallets on the previous Saturday.

✅ In a press release, the commission said it made the order under existing authorities that allow for it to take action if it needs to protect clients or their funds. "The Securities Commission of The Bahamas ('the Commission'), in the exercise of its powers as regulator acting under the authority of an Order made by the Supreme Court of The Bahamas, took the action of directing the transfer of all digital assets of FTX Digital Markets Ltd. ('FDM') to a digital wallet controlled by the Commission, for safekeeping," the release said. "Urgent interim regulatory action was necessary to protect the interests of clients and creditors of FDM."
