On Wednesday morning, Turkish occupation Zilka base was targeted by the Islamic Resistance Ahrar al-Iraq Brigade.
According to the Kurdistan Region's Directorate General of Counter Terrorism, no casualties were reported as a result of the attack. Of the eight rockets, two landed inside the military base located in the province of Nineveh, while the remaining landed in its surrounding area.
The attack was claimed by the Iran-backed Islamic Resistance Ahrar al-Iraq Brigade through its Telegram channels. The group stated that it had fired 20 rockets at the military base and threatened to escalate its operations onto Turkish soil.
In a formal statement, the faction declared, "Our operations remain ongoing and are continually evolving, and will not cease until the complete and immediate withdrawal of the occupying force [Turkish forces]. Should the occupying force persist in their presence, our operations will escalate and target military positions within Turkish territory."

A study published in Nature Communications from 2019 highlights the seismic risks posed by the North Anatolian Fault Zone in Turkey.
The fault zone has produced a series of significant earthquakes over the last century, creating an unfilled seismic gap beneath the Marmara Sea that has remained unbroken for 250 years. This gap, located south of the city of Istanbul, lies at the western terminus of the 1999 Mw7.4 Izmit earthquake.

More Than 20,000 Syrian Refugees Return to Homeland from Turkey
The Turkish Defense Minister, Hulusi Akar, has provided a response to the speculations surrounding a potential new wave of Syrian migration into Turkey, which could be triggered by a disaster.
Minister Akar made these comments during his visit to the earthquake-stricken southern province of Hatay.
According to the Defense Minister, over 20,000 Syrian citizens have returned to their homeland after the twin earthquakes hit both neighboring countries on 6th February.
During his visit, Minister Akar refuted claims of a possible new disaster-induced migration wave heading towards Turkey, emphasizing that the issue has been discussed in detail during inspections at the border, meetings with military and civilian officials, and visits to military divisions near the border and border crossings.
Minister Akar dismissed the claims as baseless, stating that Syrian citizens living in Turkey are returning to their homes due to the loss of their homes and relatives. He further emphasized that the number of returnees has exceeded 20,000.
Turkey is currently home to approximately four million Syrian refugees who fled their country's civil war. However, the country has experienced an increase in anti-Syrian sentiment since the occurrence of the earthquakes.

Turkish Ground Operation in NE Syria & Western Kurdistan Less Likely after Earthquake, but Threat Remains, says SDF Commander
The likelihood of a Turkish ground operation in northeast Syria has decreased following the earthquake that hit Turkey on February 14, but the threat remains, warned the commander in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazlum. In an interview, he acknowledged that Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan might still choose to go to war as critical elections approach.
"Because of the disaster in Turkey, we believe that a Turkish operation is less likely. Based on the intelligence and the reports that we had, we were expecting an operation targeting the city of Kobane in February," said Mazlum.
However, he cautioned that Erdogan has not abandoned the idea of using a military operation as a factor to influence the results of the presidential election. "So, because Erdogan has not abandoned this idea, there will always be the possibility of a Turkish ground operation against us at any time before the presidential elections," he added.
The SDF commander explained that Turkey is currently consumed with internal issues following the earthquake, and public opinion in the country is against the idea of a military operation. However, he warned that Erdogan could think about a military operation at any time before the elections, which are scheduled to take place in four months.
"The target of a possible ground operation has not changed. It is still Kobane. There are a few reasons for this. First, the city is symbolic. It has a meaning for the Coalition. Second, Russia is less interested in protecting Kobane than it is in protecting other areas. Kobane is the target that Turkey can agree on with the Syrian regime and Russia," he explained.

According to the main advisor to the leader of "Iyi Parti", Turhan Cömez, many people put on life-support system in the hospital of Iskederun died due to lack of oxygen.
Turhan Cömez told the journalists that this incident occured because of many power outages. Many people died including babies, elder and victims of the earthquake.
Iskederun is among the towns that were the most severly hit by the 6th February's earthquakes.
