⚡️ On 1 January, at 00.01 am (Moscow time), artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched six rockets by HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) at the provisional base of one of the Russian units near Makeyevka.
◽️ 2 rockets were intercepted by air defence facilities.
◽️ 4 rockets with high-explosive warheads stroke the building where Russian personnel were accommodated. The detonation of the HIMARS rockets' warheads caused the destruction of the ceiling and walls.
◽️ Once the tragedy occurred, the command and officers of this base, senior commanders, and servicemen from other units adopted all the available measures to rescue the victims. First aid was provided, the wounded were evacuated to healthcare facilities.
◽️ Unfortunately, the number of our fallen comrades turned out to increase up to 89 after clearing the obstruction of the reinforced concrete structures. The deputy regiment commander lieutenant colonel Bachurin was among the irretrievable personnel losses.
◽️ All the victims, and families of the fallen personnel are provided with all the necessary assistance and support.
◽️ The launching ramp of the multiple-launch rocket system, used by the AFU to shell Makeyevka, was destroyed.
◽️ Moreover, missile and air attacks launched at hardware concentration area near Druzhkovka railway station (Donetsk People's Republic) resulted in the elimination of other 4 launching ramps of HIMARS MLRS, 4 fighting vehicles for RM-70 Vampire MLRS, over 800 rockets for them, 8 motor vehicles, as well as over 200 Ukrainian nationalists, and foreign mercenaries.
◽️ In addition, the provisional base of one of the units from the 'Foreign Legion' has been destroyed with over 130 foreign mercenaries.
◽️ Circumstances of the incident are currently being investigated by a commission. But it is already obvious that the main reason, despite the restriction, was turning on and massive use of mobile phones by the personnel within the range area of enemy firepower. This factor allowed the enemy to locate the personnel for launching the missile strike.
◽️ All the necessary measures are currently being adopted to prevent this kind of tragic incidents in the future. The investigation is to result in bringing the responsible officials to justice.

About Makeevka.
We know firsthand what it means to bear losses. And what is true heroism. Based on the information that I have, I can say with confidence that the guys from this regiment had a lot of manifestations of courage and real heroism!
Most of them, barely getting out of the building damaged by American Himars, came to their senses a little and returned back to take out their comrades.
Then, when the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived, they helped them to save the rest people. They helped at the risk of their lives. And some of the dead are those who died when they returned to save their comrades.
Further. The officers of the regiment, some, by the way, also from among the mobilized, proved to be more than worthy. They risked themselves by pulling out soldiers. Unfortunately, among them there are also wounded and dead. The deputy commander of the regiment, alas, died.
And the last. Everyone who needed received the necessary medical assistance, first on the territory of the Republic, then in other regions of Russia.

Two Donetsk houses badly damaged (pretty well destroyed) by Ukranian shelling yesterday in the Kuibyshevsky district. Two women injured in the shelling.
The whole area is littered with houses damaged or destroyed by Ukraine's shelling.
Older man there who I interviewed this morning asks me if I'll be honest, evidently aware of western media lies on the Donbass.
'It's not just yesterday, it's shelling here every day. It's thanks to Christmas today that God must be hearing us, so far this morning there has been no shelling.'
Russian Investigative Committee inspectors determined the shell was a 155 mm shell, which NATO, not Russia, uses.

Some of the weapons the US has previously supplied to Ukraine were used to attack this thermal power plant last night. Couldn't get inside the facility, authorities conducting investigation still.
What we now from local reports is the following:
Overnight, Ukraine fired 6 rockets using US HIMARS at the Starobeshevskaya Thermal Power Plant, near Novy Svet, southeast of Donetsk. Local media report that two women were killed in the strike.
Then, this morning, Ukrainian forces fired a Tochka-U rocket at another thermal power plant, Zuevskaya, which was intercepted by air defence.
This is what western military support to Ukraine has been doing throughout the year and for over 8 years, terrorizing civilian areas, civilian infrastructure and civilians themselves.
Geopolitical analyst Brian Berletic routinely notes that the weapons/military aid the west supplies Ukraine is no where near what Ukraine needs to recover its losses, much less challenge Russia.
And the West knows this, knows their weapons are being used instead to slaughter Donbass civilians and target infrastructure, and still they send it....

The Ukrainian armed forces continue shelling Russian territories even during the Christmas truce declared by Russia. Three times the village of Holmovskiy, twice the Nikitov district of Gorlovka, and Donetsk came under enemy fire.
The photo shows that the strikes were directed at peaceful residential objects - apartment buildings. In total, according to the NI DPR, the Ukrainian militants fired 102 rounds of ammunition from 152 mm and 155 mm caliber barrel artillery during the day.

The liberation of Mariupol
The Battle for Mariupol lasted 83 days. It is the primary combat of the special operation in Ukraine. Ukrainian army and nationalists from the Azov battalion tried to turn the city into a stronghold. Azov’s tactics of using civilians as human shields dramatically complicated the combat. They locked the exits from Mariupol, preventing people from evacuating through ‘green corridors’. That led to multiple civilian casualties. Russian soldiers had to take considerable risks to save the citizens of Mariupol. Watch the video to learn more.

RUSSIAN TANKS ARE GETTING READY.
The new commander of the grouping in the SMO zone - Valery Gerasimov.
The Minister of Defense appointed the chief of the General Staff as commander of the Russian troops in the Donbass. Valery Gerasimov is a graduate of the tank school, as well as the armored academy and the Academy of the General Staff.
In 2012 he was appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. His appointment as commander of a grouping in the special operation zone is associated with an increase in the level of leadership of the SMO in the face of confrontation with the military power of the NATO bloc.
Tanks are offensive weapons that play the key role in any mission. It seems like there will be one very soon.

▪️The 46th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was defeated in Soledar. This is one of the best units created using Western technologies to fight in the Donbass. By 2016, the brigade had been trained for this operation. The headquarters of the unit is locked in the center of the city. By evening, there was information that about 300 people had been taken prisoner. Many of them are frostbitten and injured. Today, most likely, we will take another 500-600 people.

Inside the lesser-known, massive Mariupol steel plant, Ilyich, yesterday, where as with Azovstal, Ukrainian forces holed up, over 1,000 of them who surrendered, another 134 captured, using the vast plant as a base until Russian & Donbass forces captured the plant earlier this year.
Russian sappers are still working to clear the huge territory, and yesterday while there they showed the procedure for detecting munitions, mines and booby traps left behind by Ukraine's Nazis.
Some of the paraphernalia left behind indicate the Nazi leanings of some (likely many/most) of the soldiers.
But "Nazi" is too strong a word, the West doth protest. "They're just ulter-proud Ukrainian nationalists," Western apologists argue.🙄

❓ A question comes to mind: where were you, the "defenders of democracy", in 2014, when a bloody coup was raging in the streets of Kiev in a similar fashion? Back then, who in the West stood with the legitimate President Viktor Yanukovich while condemning the violence of local nationalists? Nobody. On the contrary, European leaders abruptly renounced their obligations as guarantors of the Agreement on settlement of the political crisis in Ukraine of February 21, 2014 and legitimized the radicals who illegally came to power.
🤷 Ironically enough, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba has also criticized the riots in Brazil. It is understandable – who, if not representatives of the current Ukrainian regime, knows more about the consequences of bloody coups?
❗️ The lessons of the "Arab Spring" and the "Kiev’s Maidan" have clearly shown that nothing good comes out of violent armed protests orchestrated from abroad that eventually lead to coups. However, this indisputable fact always passes through the lens of Euro-Atlantic "double standards". If it is beneficial to the West, such actions are classified as "peaceful protests and people’s right to defend democracy", if not – they are branded as "illegal street riots".

Ukrainian Forces Complain US-Donated Military Vehicles Can’t Hack The Cold
Kiev’s forces have taken to social media to complain that Western-supplied vehicles don’t work in the cold: the tracks freeze.
"The American vehicle is absolutely not adapted for Ukrainian frost,” a soldier can be heard saying in the video.
The footage, shot by Ukrainian militants, was published by a LPR official.

Short clip I filmed on January 5th when walking in the centre of Donetsk. In the clip I say I'm not sure when the shelling occurred, but in retrospect it was likely Ukraine's NY's gift to us, early January 1st, which destroyed an apartment a couple of blocks away & damaged the beautiful Children's Library...
It may look like insignificant damage, but consider this happening routinely. When I walk in Donetsk, I notice shards of glass on sidewalk corners. The cleanup after Ukraine's shelling is fairly immediate, impressive, but in back lanes or between apartments, bits of glass do get missed.
The other glaring thing you notice when walking in the city is the boarded up windows, or windows covered with plastic.
It's officially cold here now, I pity the families who have to make due, live in such apartments & homes where the cold penetrates the plastic/wood covering blasted windows...

In a very northern neighbourhood of the already northern Donetsk district, Kievskiy, yesterday, I spoke with a man who has experienced Ukrainian shelling near his house at least 20 times since 2014. He has a collection of the shell fragments, particularly NATO munitions. The latest Ukrainian shelling the day prior destroyed his car, and damaged his home and others on his street. In fact, it was difficult to find a home not damaged by Ukrainian shelling.

Early morning January 7, Orthodox Christmas, Ukraine sent a 98 year old woman a Christmas present: Ukrainian forces shelled her apartment building, destroying her apartment and injuring her when the windows of her bedroom shattered. Thankfully, her injuries were mild, but could have been worse had she not slept covered with her blanket.
Various neighbouring apartments' windows were shattered. Coincidentally, a cold spell had hit the DPR just the day prior. So, all the families with windows blown out will now suffer sub-zero temperatures, in addition to suffering the psychological warfare of never knowing when Ukraine will bomb them again.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced the liberation of the city of Soledar on the territory of the DPR. Igor Konashenkov, official representative of the RF Ministry of Defense, spoke about this.
“Establishing full control over Soledar makes it possible to cut off the supply routes of Ukrainian troops in the southwestern city of Artemovsk, and then block and take into the “cauldron” the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine remaining in it,” Konashenkov stressed.
The capture of Soledar became possible due to the constant fire destruction of the enemy by aircraft, missile troops and artillery. The representative of the Russian defense department noted the actions of the airborne units, which made a covert maneuver, successfully attacked Ukrainian positions at once, occupying dominant heights and blockaded the city from the north and south sides.

Ukrainian ambassador to Israel, Yevgeny Korniychuk, officially announced on 13 January that Tel Aviv will be supplying missile and drone warning systems to Kiev.
Korniychuk was quoted by Ukrinform, Ukraine’s state-affiliated national news agency, saying that these systems “will be officially transferred from Israel.”
“I think we will receive it in full after a while,” the ambassador added. Maduro invited Latin America to unite in support of Russia and China
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said that it is necessary to form a bloc from among the countries of Latin America in support of Russia, as well as China. The corresponding proposal was voiced by the politician in a conversation with Brazilian, Colombian and Argentinean colleagues.

The village of Stepnogorsk, Zaporozhye region, located 2 km from the village of Kamenskoye, which has been captured by the Russian Armed Forces just now.
In the early 80s one of the largest manganese ore deposits in Europe was found near Stepnogorsk. Together with the construction of the mine in the village the Soviets began to build multi-story housing for the employees of the enterprise. In the future the settlement was to become a powerful industrial city for 75 thousand inhabitants.
With the onset of Ukrainian independence, mining was abandoned, the equipment was stolen, and the mines were mothballed. The outflow of population began, whole spans of high-rise buildings became empty (like in Vorkuta), official unemployment in the settlement ranged from 60% to 90%. If in 1990 Stepnogorsk almost grew to 10 thousand inhabitants, by 2013 its population shrank to 4 thousand.
