Smartphone manufacturer Vertu revealed its latest device, Metavertu—a “Web3 phone” that can run its own blockchain node and turn photos and videos into NFTs with a single click.
The device itself is unapologetically aimed at the higher end of the market. Aptos showed the biggest return on the cryptocurrency market after spiking by more than 32% in the last 24 hours despite facing some serious problems right after being listed on Binance. Luckily, there are a few serious reasons why APT may still succeed on the market.
Negative funding rates
Funding rates may sometimes act as a starter for a reversal as opening more short positions becomes more expensive, and bulls receive support from market makers. Technically, after funding rates become negative, they are paying to bulls.

The main reason behind funding rates turning negative was the active hedging after the team behind Aptos showed a lack of understanding of some blockchain mechanisms like the Sybil attack. After the release of a sudden airdrop, APT faced a massive spike in selling pressure, causing a plunge from $15 to $7.
VC's support
It is not a secret that prior to the listing on large exchanges, Aptos already received a massive amount of support from institutional investors. The main reason being the tie of the project to Meta's DIEM crypto project that became obsolete after facing a regulatory crackdown.
Unfortunately, some investors are worried that the large percentage of institutional investors will lead to an immediate spike in selling pressure as soon as APT starts recovering.
Market's recovery
Despite the 50% plunge, Aptos remains one of the biggest digital assets on the market, and a potential recovery of the market would certainly bring some support for the token. Unless institutional investors start selling the token as soon as possible, APT's recovery rally is not something investors have no right to expect.
At press time, Aptos is trading at $10 and showing a 32% price increase in the last 24 hours.

Each of the skateboards is plated in 24 karat gold and weighs 45 pounds, according to Chiru Labs, which recommends that owners not try to ride them.
The highest bidder paid just over $400,000 for one of the skateboards, compared to around $260,000 for the lowest successful bid. Chiru Labs says that there were 145 total bids on the skateboards.

In a tweet, an NFT investor pointed out several issues surrounding OpenRarity, the new rarity ranking protocol implemented by NFT marketplace OpenSea. According to the community member, putting “rank” in the NFT listing with no mention of “rarity” anywhere could be misleading.
Days after the feedback, the NFT marketplace made some revisions to the ranking system. At the moment, NFT listings now show “rarity rank” instead of just the rank. Bicycle Playing Cards, the long-running brand now under parent company Cartamundi, announced today that it purchased a Bored Ape NFT and that it plans to create and sell physical playing cards using the artwork. Five people have been charged in France on allegations that they fraudulently acquired $2.5 million worth of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), mainly targeting Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) owners.
The prosecution alleged that the suspects used a phishing operation to acquire the assets, luring victims via a fake website that promised to animate their NFTs, according to reporting by the Agence France Presse (AFP) posted by Barrons.
The charges levied against the suspects, all of whom aged between 30 and 24, include “include fraud committed as part of a criminal gang, concealing fraud and criminal association.”

Damien Hirst has begun burning hundreds of his own artworks after selling a series of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Hirst launched his first NFT collection last year, called The Currency, which was made up of 10,000 NFTs, corresponding to 10,000 original pieces of art. 5,149 buyers opted for the original artworks while 4,851 chose the NFTs.
Artworks for the non-exchanged NFTs would be destroyed, buyers were informed, with Hirst telling his Instagram followers earlier this week that he would burn the first 1,000 artworks on Tuesday.
The NFTs, which depicted colourful spots, reportedly sold for $2,000 (£1,800) each.

According to reports, HUGO’s new collection for Imaginary Ones NFT of 1,001 3D animations, titled “Embrace Your Emotions” (EYE) will be launched early next November 2022.
The idea is to encourage everyone to get in touch with their emotions and share the message that all feelings, positive and negative, are valid and should be embraced. And indeed, the 1,001 NFTs depict five characters representing joy, sadness, fear, anger and love.
Not only that, on World Mental Health Day, 10 October, a special sixth character that brings together all five emotions will be auctioned off and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM).

Grey was among five candidates for the Sushi chief executive (Head Chef”) position. Today’s vote could mark the end of the Sushi DAO leadership saga that has gone on for almost as long as the protocol has been in existence. It all began in September 2020, when the pseudonymous “Chef Nomi,” Sushi’s first Head Chef stepped down. Blockchain Basics
The blockchain's primary application is to perform transactions in a secure network. That's why people use blockchain in different scenarios. For example, one can set up a blockchain to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data unavailable to the public.
Blockchain can also be available to a specific organization only and require authorization. The type of blockchain greatly depends on the organization or entity developing it and can serve various purposes.
The major advantages of using blockchain include:

▪️Better data security
▪️Reduced production cost
▪️Invocation and tokenization
▪️Immutable records
▪️Smart contracts
The major disadvantages of using blockchain include:
▪️Data modification is not possible
▪️Large data storage is required
▪️The owner cannot reaccess the private key if they forget or lose it
And the two major types of blockchains include permissionless and permissioned blockchains, which will be covered in the next lesson.

Permissionless vs. Permissioned Blockchains
A permissionless blockchain is also known as a trustless or public blockchain, implying it is available to everyone to participate in transaction validation. These blockchains are used where high transparency is required.
Characteristics:
▪️No central authority
▪️Open-source
▪️Transactions transparency
▪️Heavy use of tokens
Advantages:
▪️Everyone can participate
▪️Trust among users
▪️High level of transparency
▪️Broad decentralization
Disadvantages:
▪️Poor energy efficiency due to extensive network
▪️Low scalability
▪️Less privacy
Permissioned blockchains, on the other hand, are closed networks available to a specific group of entities only, who are allowed to validate transactions. They are used in the networks where high privacy and security is required.
Characteristics:
▪️Transparency based on the objective of the organization
▪️Lack of decentralization as only a limited number of users are allowed to use it
▪️No central authority
▪️Developed by a private entity
Advantages:
▪️Faster than permissionless, as it usually has ready nodes for transaction validation
▪️Customizability
▪️Strong privacy as permission is needed for accessing transaction information
▪️High efficiency and scalability as few nodes are involved
Disadvantages:
▪️Not truly decentralized as it requires permission
▪️Risk of corruption as only a few participants are involved
▪️The owner of the blockchain (i.e., the developers) can change the rules at any time at their own will
