A clarification about why we have forbidden touch hands / fist bump.
The most crucial factor is that it undermines the very nature of violence. But to be more detailed, we will break it down for you.
The act of shaking hands or fist bumping during a fight that has already commenced is illogical and goes against the aim of making the fights as authentic as possible. It goes against the very essence of the fights – full-contact fighting. Showing respect and shaking hands before or after a fight is more appropriate.
We are striving to make the fights as realistic as possible and there is no realism in shaking hands or fist bumping when a fight starts. This practice is seen in other promotions like UFC or GLORY and it can lead to surprise attacks or give an advantage in measuring the distance to the opponent. It also detracts from the essence of violence. We believe that respect between fighters should be shown after the fight has concluded. Some fighters may feel compelled to fist bump due to pressure, even if their original vision for the fight did not include such action. In their visualization, they may have planned to run and execute a jump kick, but having someone reach out their hand can disrupt their plan. If their opponent extends their hand, they may feel obliged to reciprocate as a show of respect. They may also feel insecure about whether the opponent will launch a surprise attack or behave honorably.
To address this issue, we have decided that any fighter who engages in a fist bump, regardless of the outcome, will have a reduction in their prize money.
